N-Acetyl Glucosamine (NAG) has glucosamine attached to an acetic acid molecule, whereas glucosamine sulfate has it attached to a sulfuric acid molecule. Although research suggests that glucosamine sulfate is better absorbed than NAG, individuals sensitive to sulfur may tolerate NAG better.

DESCRIPTION

Provides 500mg of N-Acetyl Glucosamine (NAG) per capsule - from vegan source.

NAG has glucosamine attached to an acetic acid molecule, whereas glucosamine sulfate has it attached to a sulfuric acid molecule. Although research suggests that glucosamine sulfate is better absorbed than NAG, individuals sensitive to sulfur may tolerate NAG better

N-Acetyl-Glucosamine (NAG) is a simple amino sugar, a monosaccharide with an amino group as part of its structure. NAG is a nutrient, an intermediary metabolite, and a component of the glycocalyx coat carried by all the body’s cells. The glycocalyx is a layer of carbohydrate and proteins complexed together, sometimes also with lipid components, and anchored in the outer cell membrane.

WHY SUPPLEMENT WITH N-ACETYL-GLUCOSAMINE (NAG) ?

As a major contributor to the glycocalyx, NAG is involved in cell-to-cell attachment, contributes to the cell surface antigen patterns, and augments receptor functions. Although located on the cell’s exterior surface, NAG is important for cell function.

NAG may also contribute to -

Improved gastrointestinal function by enhancing mucosal integrity.

Improved connective tissue function as NAG is a key building block molecule needed for its formation and therefore may support tissue, joints, ligaments, tendons and other specialised connective tissue.

Better tolerated than glucosamine sulfate for those sensitive to sulfur

Suggested Use: As a dietary supplement, 1 capsule three times daily, or as directed by a healthcare practitioner.
